PROF. ALI AHMAD MOURNS THE PASSING OF PROF. LANRE BADMOS

With profound grief and a deep sense of loss, Prof. Ali Ahmad, former Speaker of the 8th Kwara State House of Assembly and Professor of Constitutional Law, expresses his heartfelt condolences on the passing of Professor Lanre Badmos, an accomplished Islamic scholar, distinguished academic, and revered community leader. He joins **the family of the deceased, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, the Emir of Ilorin, the League of Ulama, academic colleagues, students, the Muslim Ummah, and the entire people of Kwara State in mourning this painful and irreplaceable loss.

The passage of Prof. Lanre Badmos has come as a profound shock, leaving behind a void that words can scarcely fill. Beyond his towering academic accomplishments, he was widely known and deeply respected as Imam Maimasa, a spiritual guide whose life seamlessly blended scholarship with piety, and knowledge with humility.

Professor Badmos lived a life devoted to the pursuit and dissemination of knowledge, the service of Islam, and the moral guidance of society. In the lecture halls, he shaped minds with depth and discipline; on the mimbar, he guided souls with wisdom, balance, and compassion. His voice was calm but firm, his teachings profound yet accessible, and his influence enduring.

The departure of scholars, as our tradition teaches, is the departure of light. With the passing of Prof. Lanre Badmos, our society has lost a custodian of knowledge, a bridge between generations, and a conscience that consistently called for righteousness, moderation, and intellectual honesty. His absence will be felt not only in the mosque he served, but across academic institutions and communities that benefitted from his counsel.

To his family, this loss represents the departure of a beloved father, mentor, and moral anchor. To his students and followers, it is the loss of a guide whose life itself was a lesson. Yet, in the values he upheld, the lives he shaped, and the knowledge he imparted, his legacy remains alive and instructive.

“Scholars may depart from this world, but the knowledge they leave behind continues to speak, to guide, and to illuminate paths long after them.”

At this moment of deep grief, Prof. Ali Ahmad prays that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives the shortcomings of Prof. Lanre Badmos, accepts his lifelong service to Islam and humanity, and grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus. May Allah also grant the family of the deceased, **His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, the Emir of Ilorin, the League of Ulama, and the entire Muslim Ummah the strength, patience, and fortitude to bear this great loss.
