PROF. ALI AHMAD FELICITATES THE UMMAH ON THE SACRED NIGHT OF LAILATUL QUADRI
Former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Prof. Ali Ahmad, joins the Muslim Ummah in observing the blessed night of Lailatul Quadri, a night described by Allah as “better than a thousand months” (Qur’an 97:3).
Prof. Ahmad highlights the immense spiritual and societal significance of this sacred night, emphasizing that it is not just a night of prayer but a divine opportunity for personal and collective transformation. He urges the faithful to seize this moment to seek Allah’s mercy, reflect on their responsibilities, and renew their commitment to justice, knowledge, and service to humanity.
“The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, ‘Whoever stands in prayer during Lailatul Quadri with faith and seeking reward, all his past sins will be forgiven’ (Bukhari, Muslim). This night is a reminder that Allah’s mercy is vast and His decree is just. As we supplicate for ourselves, let us also pray for our families, our leaders, and our nation,” Prof. Ahmad stated.
He underscores that Islam is not only about personal devotion but also about social responsibility, quoting the Prophet (peace be upon him): “The most beloved people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to mankind” (Ahmad, Tabarani). He calls on Muslims to emulate this principle by contributing positively to society through knowledge, philanthropy, and upholding justice.
“At a time when our nation faces challenges in governance, economy, and unity, this night reminds us that Allah’s decree is supreme. We must strive to be instruments of peace, justice, and development, ensuring that our actions reflect the teachings of Islam,” he added.
Prof. Ahmad prays that Almighty Allah accepts the prayers of the Ummah, forgives shortcomings, and grants divine guidance to all. He urges Muslims to maximize the remaining days of Ramadan in devotion, charity, and righteous deeds.
“May this Lailatul Quadri be a night of transformation for us all. May our supplications be answered, our burdens eased, and our society reformed in accordance with Allah’s divine will.”
