CELEBRATING A STATESMAN AT 63: A BIRTHDAY MESSAGE TO DR. ABUBAKAR BUKOLA SARAKI, CON, FROM PROF. ALI AHMAD

“Today, on the auspicious occasion of the 63rd birthday of the former Senate President of the 8th National Assembly, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON, I celebrate a life devoted to service, courage, and enduring national relevance,” Prof. Ali Ahmad, former Speaker of the 8th Kwara State House of Assembly and Professor of Constitutional Law, said as he joined family members, political associates, friends, and admirers across Nigeria and beyond to mark the birthday of Waziri Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate.

Prof. Ahmad described Senator Saraki’s public life as a remarkable testament to vision, resilience, and principled leadership, noting that his journey through public service reflects a deep commitment to justice, equity, inclusiveness, and good governance.

Reflecting on his early engagement in governance and policy formulation, Prof. Ahmad noted that his tenure as Governor of Kwara State marked a defining era in the state’s political and developmental history. According to him, the clarity of vision, discipline, and reform-minded approach deployed during that period laid the foundation for modern governance, strengthened institutions, and placed Kwara State on a sustainable developmental path whose impact continues to be felt across generations.

Speaking on Dr. Saraki’s role at the national level, Prof. Ahmad recalled his tenure as President of the Senate as one defined by courage and unwavering commitment to democratic principles. He observed that, even in periods of intense political pressure, Senator Saraki remained resolute in defending legislative independence, constitutional order, and the integrity of democratic institutions, thereby leaving an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political history.

Prof. Ahmad further described Senator Saraki as a rallying point for progressive thought and national cohesion, stressing that his influence transcends political office.
