Kwara once enjoyed a period when governance was open, transparent, and responsive to the people. It was a time when accountability mattered and leaders saw public funds as sacred trust. Sadly, that era has faded. Today, governance in our state is shrouded in secrecy and waste, and the bond of trust between the government and the governed has been broken. Kwarans deserve better. They deserve a return to a system that respects their intelligence, values their resources, and treats transparency as a duty, not a favour.
Prof. Ali Ahmad stands ready to bring that era back. His vision for Kwara is anchored on public accountability and fiscal sanity. As a legal scholar, reformer, and administrator with a proven record of enforcing discipline and transparency, Prof. Ahmad represents the restoration of a Kwara that once inspired confidence in its governance.
His leadership will be guided by a Fiscal Transparency Mandate that compels government to follow the money in full view of the people. Quarterly, the State’s financial records—covering Federal Allocations, Internally Generated Revenue, and major expenditure items—will be published on a dedicated public portal to allow citizens to see, know, and question. A strict Zero-Based Budgeting system will be adopted, ensuring that every Ministry, Department, and Agency justifies its expenditure from scratch, cutting off waste and corruption. The office of the State Auditor-General will be strengthened, empowered, and adequately funded to carry out its duties independently and without political interference.
Prof. Ali Ahmad’s record speaks louder than promises. As Speaker of the 8th Kwara State House of Assembly, he led one of the most transparent and performance-driven legislatures in the history of the state. Under his leadership, budget performance rose to an unprecedented 68 percent, setting a benchmark for fiscal discipline and responsible oversight. He did not just talk about transparency—he lived it, demonstrated it, and left a legacy that can still be measured.
Kwara can return to that path of trust, prudence, and people-centered governance. Prof. Ali Ahmad embodies that possibility. He is a Scholar-Statesman whose commitment to law, accountability, and fiscal responsibility is not theoretical but practical and proven. His vision is to restore Kwara to the ideals of open leadership where the people’s money works for the people, and where government is accountable to all.
