CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF ACJA: THE LEGACY AND FORESIGHT OF PROF. ALI AHMAD
By Ali Ahmad Youth Brigade (AAYB)
As Nigeria celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015, the Ali Ahmad Youth Brigade (AAYB) proudly salutes the visionary mind behind this historic reform, Prof. Ali Ahmad, former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and sponsor of the ACJA during the 7th National Assembly. ACJA is a groundbreaking federal law that replaced the colonial-era framework with a more humane criminal justice administration in the country.
Prof. Ali Ahmad’s legislative brilliance did not end at the national level. Under his leadership as Speaker of the 8th Kwara State House of Assembly, the law was domesticated in Kwara State in 2018, making the state one of the earliest to adopt and operationalize this progressive legal reform. He also facilitated its adoption by a number of other states through their Speakers. This remarkable feat reflects his consistency in driving policies that protect citizens’ rights and promote good governance.
As we commemorate this milestone, the Ali Ahmad Youth Brigade reaffirms its belief that Prof. Ali Ahmad possesses the intellectual depth, legislative experience, and people-centered leadership needed to move Kwara State forward come 2027.
A leader who has redefined justice reform at both federal and state levels is, without doubt, equipped to redefine governance in our dear state.
