Prof. Ali Ahmad Appeals for Peace and Unity Ahead of PDP Local Government Congresses

Prof. Ali Ahmad, former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and Professor of Constitutional Law, has called on all members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State to embrace peace and unity as the party prepares for its local government congresses scheduled to hold tomorrow.

Reflecting on the successful ward congresses that have just been concluded, Prof. Ahmad acknowledged that, as with every political process, some individuals or groups might have grievances regarding the selection of candidates or the order of emergence. He appealed for patience, understanding, and collective responsibility.

“Let us remember what distinguishes our dynasty from other political groups in Kwara State: we have a leader, and under his guidance, our congresses have always been an affirmation of unity rather than a contest of division. This is a cherished tradition that has given our party strength, stability, and direction over the years,” Prof. Ahmad said.

He further urged party members to prioritize the bigger picture and avoid distractions that could weaken the collective resolve of the PDP in Kwara. “We must rise above individual differences and rally behind our leadership. It is only in peace and cooperation that we can continue to consolidate our structure and prepare effectively for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead,” he added.

Prof. Ahmad concluded by expressing optimism that the local government congresses, like the ward congresses before them, will be conducted successfully, strengthening the PDP’s position as the true and organized alternative in Kwara State politics.
