PROF. ALI AHMAD CELEBRATES THE APPOINTMENT OF MAJOR GENERAL IBRAHIM BABATUNDE ALAYA
AS DIRECTOR GENERAL OF DEFENCE INDUSTRIES CORPORATION OF NIGERIA (DICON)
Ilorin, April 16, 2025 — Former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and Professor of Constitutional Law, Prof. Ali Ahmad, has extended warm and heartfelt congratulations to Major General Ibrahim Babatunde Alaya on his recent appointment as the Director General of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON).
Prof. Ahmad described Major General Alaya as “an exemplary son of Ilorin, a decorated engineer-soldier whose outstanding contributions to the Nigerian Army and the nation’s security architecture have earned him national reverence and professional distinction.”
“Your appointment as Director General of DICON is a deeply deserved recognition of your uncommon expertise and a profound appreciation of your pivotal role in enhancing the Nigerian Army’s technical and combat readiness. From the frontlines of the war against insurgency to your transformational leadership at the Command Engineering Depot, your legacy is already etched in the annals of national service,” he stated.
The new position—an apex role in Nigeria’s defence production landscape—was hailed by Prof. Ahmad as a strategic and deserving choice. He praised Major General Alaya’s unmatched commitment to innovation, including the successful rebuilding, reboring, and refitting of damaged combat vehicles which significantly boosted the Army’s operational capability.
“General Alaya brings to DICON not only a wealth of engineering brilliance but also a legacy of leadership driven by discipline, patriotism, and results. He is a symbol of what a purposeful officer should embody—vision, resilience, and integrity,” he added.
Prof. Ahmad further remarked that “this appointment is a victory for merit, professionalism, and the unwavering spirit of Ilorin. It is my honour to celebrate a military icon whose rise continues to inspire.”
He offered prayers for continued strength, wisdom, and divine guidance: “May Almighty Allah grant you enduring wisdom and protect you as you steer DICON to greater heights in national defence production and self-reliance.”
Prof. Ahmad also commended the military high command and leadership of the Nigerian government for identifying and appointing a tested patriot, thereby reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to excellence and indigenous capacity development.
